The promise
This is a focused, one-week sprint into the Oracle DBA role. In seven live sessions of 2.5 hours each, you cover the core skills a junior DBA is expected to walk in with: how the database is built, how to start and stop it cleanly, how to protect data with backups, how to manage users and storage, and how to spot and fix the most common problems.
It is built for complete beginners, for application and IT professionals switching into a DBA role, and for students who want a practical head start before a deeper course or a job hunt. You do not need prior Oracle experience — only basic comfort with a computer and a willingness to practise.
By the end of the week you will be able to install and open an Oracle database, run a backup and restore it, create users and assign privileges, read a few key performance views, understand what Data Guard does, and talk confidently about all of it in an interview. It is fundamentals, not the entire job — but it is the right fundamentals, taught the way they are actually used in production.

- Creating a database with DBCA
- Startup and shutdown phases — nomount, mount, open
- The parameter file (SPFILE/PFILE) and the listener
- Bringing a database up and down cleanly
3Day 3 — Storage, users & redo administration2.5-hour live session
- Managing tablespaces & datafiles as data grows
- Users, privileges, roles & profiles
- Control files and online redo logs
- Enabling and understanding ARCHIVELOG mode
4Day 4 — Backup & recovery with RMAN + Data Pump2.5-hour live session
- Configuring RMAN and the Fast Recovery Area
- Full and incremental backups against a database in ARCHIVELOG mode
- A real backup-and-restore so the concept sticks
- Logical backups with Data Pump (expdp / impdp)
5Day 5 — Performance tuning essentials2.5-hour live session
- Reading AWR and ADDM reports at a high level
- Using key dynamic performance views
- Spotting a slow query

- How Data Guard keeps a copy of production ready
- Redo transport and apply, shown on a primary + standby
- What switchover and failover mean
7Day 7 — Patching, upgrades & troubleshooting + interview prep2.5-hour live session
- How patches and upgrades are applied safely
- Troubleshooting common production issues
- Full archive destination, locked accounts, listener problems
